President's Message

Hello to all Members & Partners,
We as the ACF Atlanta Chefs Association Chapter has had a great past month with an amazing time at the National ACF Convention in New Orleans with incredible demos, classes and culinary competitions. This year’s Conventions was attended with record number of both Attendees and sponsors. The trade show floor was the largest it has been in years and was great to see all the support for the ACF.
While in New Orleans all the ACF Members had the opportunity to take time to go out on the town during the day and experience some of the amazing culinary experiences that the city had to offer while still experiencing the nightlife that the city is known for.
Thus, year the Culinary Competitions were held at NOCI “New Orleans Culinary Institute” thank you for all the great. Hospitality show buy our host and all the partners that help to provide food, drink and service. Our own Atlanta Chapter had student volunteers from Chef Simone Byron’s Navigation Culinary Program helping cook and serve food. Next Years National ACF Convention will be held in the Great city or Phoenix Arizona. This Convention is sure to be great.
The ACF Chapter of the Year Award honors chapters that strive for the highest level of excellence in all areas of chapter life, serving their members and their communities well, and supporting ACF’s programs. With all the hard work and dedication from our board of directors, our members and our partners, ACF Atlanta was named the 2023 Regional and National Chapter of the Year. Thank you to all of our members and Partners that continue to support use each and every year.

Hello ACF Atlanta Chef members & Industry Partners, this year’s ACF National Conference was great. Thank you to all who attended from our chapter and the state of Georgia, and to all of our partners who were present during the convention! This year’s convention was biggest annual gathering of chefs, students and foodservice professionals. There were over 1,000 attendees and we had close to guest 50 speakers, most of them were ACF members. The Trade Show was jam packed with over 80 exhibitors' booths. On the main stage in our General Sessions, Chef Justin Sutherland from currently based in Minnesota, Anne E. McBride from the James Beard Foundation, Ti Adelaide Martin & Chef Meg Brickford from Commander’s Palace, Chef Stefan Riemer from Walt Disney World, Chef Dominique Crenn co-owner of Atelier Crenn in San Francisco. They all dazzled us with stories overcoming obstacles throughout their careers, their evolution within themselves and their staffs, along with leaving us all with a message that we should listen and learn from the up-and-coming generation that will one day be in our shoes. They are our future! ACF Atlanta Chefs stepped up when the call went out for volunteers. Chef Simone Byron and Chef Mimi Bates from The Navigate Foundation brought 4 student volunteers Ashley Casasola, Jade Pleasant Slater, William Johnson & Cameron Shaw-Bryon flew to New Orleans to assist with the Opening Reception at NOCHI and assist the Guest Chefs with their presentations. Thank you to The Navigate Program & their Chefs! ACF Atlanta Chef - Ashley Keyes was presented her Presidential Medallion by Kimberly Brock Brown, and the ACF Southeast Region & the ACF National Chapter of the year went to ACF Atlanta Chefs! If you feel you missed out this year, then start planning now for the 2024 ACF National Convention. It’s being held July 14–17, 2024, at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona. We hope to see you there! |

What an amazing National Convention we had in New Orleans! Thank you to all who attended and to all of our partners and sponsors! We rounded out the event with over 1,000 attendees and nearly 50 speakers, about half of whom are active ACF members. Congratulations, also, to all of our competitors and award winners, and a huge thank you to our judges and volunteers - we wouldn’t have been able to put on the convention or competitions without you! The best chefs in the nation were awarded the highest honors by the American Culinary Federation (ACF) at the 2023 ACF National Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Wednesday, July 19. The honor of an ACF award proves skill, knowledge and professionalism in the culinary industry and furthers recognition for an individual as a qualified chef. These awards represent the highest honors ACF can bestow. Nine awards were presented to individual competitors, student teams, educators, and chapters during the President’s Gala, the capstone evening of the event. High resolution photographs of winners are available upon request.
